I SHOULD BE A RAINBOW

(Guy Thomas)  1973
First original song I ever recorded in a studio.  I was 16 it was in Youngstown, Ohio.  Made a bunch of copies and got them to everyone I knew and ended up signed to R.C.A. records.

Slowing down the world around me
I can see where I'm going
Too much time slipping through my fingers
Can't hold on to something gone
Oh life is life my friend
And I've found that there's no end to the beginning

Now and then I think of when
I was happy in my life
Memories of things that pleased me
Music in my mind
I want everyone to see me
Softly in the sky
On my own beneath the light of the sun

I should be somewhere laughing
I should be somewhere having a good time
I should be a rainbow

Sadder days have come my way
But still I don't know why
I can't cherish every moment until I die
Take away my rhyme and reason
And my song won't be for long
Cause there won't be a song at all
For me to sing

I should be somewhere laughing
I should be somewhere having a good time
I should be a rainbow
